Found a Wild Animal?

Found an Animal?

Please call us as soon as possible – 919.428.0896 (Leave a message. If we do not answer, we will probably be with the opossums, squirrels or other wild life.  During season-(March-November) if we do not return your call within an hour please call us back.  These are our busy months and by busy, we me busy.

IMPORTANT: If you found an injured animal, please use caution.

A lot of the time, people with good intentions actually do more harm than good by trying to “save” wildlife that they believe to be in danger. Many animals we get didn’t need to be “rescued," and were instead going through the natural process of growing up.

If you find a sick or injured wild animal, or a baby animal in need of intervention, please contact us here 919-428-0896 or contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator in your area as soon as possible. Some specific suggestions for dealing with the most common baby animals – birds, rabbits, squirrels, opossums, and deer – click here Found an animal

For general information, send your inquiries to info@ourwildneighbors.org.

Do not handle a wild animal unless you must, and before taking action read about the animal in question here.

NOTE: Special care should be taken in dealing with these potential rabies species – raccoons, skunks, foxes, bats and groundhogs, when you encounter an animal of these species DO not attempt to handle. Call a local rehabilitator for instructions.
